£40 for a game…… That’s ridiculous!!!!
HA! If only these people knew the half of it.
I was sitting thinking the other day about the price of games and trying to decide if it is worth it or not. My initial thoughts were that it is pretty expensive to keep up. I am probably sitting with about £800 to £1000 pounds worth of games just for my XBOX360 and have only made full use of about half of that.
After saying that, the games that I do play to death make it well worth the money in my opinion.
From what I have read people know within the first fifteen minutes of playing a game whether or not they will like it or not. This is great for games that supply demos but what about the ones that don’t?
Another question is, do you get more value for money from a long game that requires hours of play to completion or a short game where you get to complete it and get that feeling of satisfaction? If you’re a really busy person then the short game may appeal more to you than the longer one.
Moving outside the cost of just the game itself, what about the hardware that you use to play these games? Have you ever bought a console just because you want the latest game so bad? All of a sudden these games are costing us £300 instead of just the standard £40. With the Wrath of the Lich King expansion coming out for World of Warcraft at the tail end of this year I KNOW that I will be buying a ‘all-singing-all-dancing’ PC for it so I can make the most of it.
Of course the cost of a PC can vary from a few hundred into the thousands. I myself won’t go all Alienware on my wallet but will go for a more modest gaming PC. There I go again, Wrath of the Lich King is probably going to cost me about £800, but in saying that I play it ALLLLL the time (just ask the wife), and that’s not including the monthly fee to play the game………. OMG WTF LOL (sorry).
Anyway, before I make myself more depressed about the amount of cash poured into games I am going to head off and get my moneys worth out of GTAIV.
